Launch and evaluation workshop of the ISAVET (In-Service Applied Veterinary Epidemiology Training) program

Dr. Arnaud Soha actively contributed to the launch workshop of the ISAVET program, supported by USAID and FAO-ECTAD. This program aims to strengthen skills in veterinary epidemiology for better prevention and management
zoonoses in Benin, by adopting the One Health approach.

Training workshop for TWAS winners

Professor Victorien Dougnon, leader of URMAPha, participated as
trainer at the TWAS-UNESCO workshop in Dakar. This event aimed to provide young people
researchers with essential skills in scientific research and writing. With
presentations on “Scientific Research and Writing”, predatory journals and
writing techniques, he highlighted the importance of ethics,
transparency and clear communication to produce impactful research.

Preparatory workshop for the data collection activity on practices, interactions and perspectives related to the use of medicinal plants in Beninese traditional medicine

This preparatory workshop for the survey brought together 10 experts in the field of ethnoboatology
having good experience in conducting ethnopharmacological surveys with
practitioners of traditional medicine. They worked to refine the questionnaire
proposed to adapt it and to reformulate certain questions to best reflect the
local practices, taking into account the specificities of the areas, knowledge, and
methods used by traditional medicine practitioners

This workshop made it possible to analyze, select and define the relevant criteria for the establishment of a microbiological certification system (MICs) intended for chicks.

AREF-MRC Towards Leadership Program

Dr Brice Boris LEGBA, from URMAPha (Research Unit in
Applied Microbiology and Pharmacology
of Natural Substances) at the University of Abomey-Calavi, has the honor of being one
of the 20 African researchers selected for the prestigious
AREF-MRC Towards Leadership program. The program has
officially started on November 20, 2024, at Palm Beach
Resort & Spa in Saly Portudal, Senegal.

learning for Beninese students (Master, PhD), post-docs and
administrative staff

Miss Fabiyi Kafayath, URMAPha laboratory technician,
proudly represents Benin at the 5th course on Resistance to
Antimicrobials – A One Health Challenge. This event, organized
by the Mérieux Foundation and Paris Cité University, aims to strengthen the
skills in diagnostics, innovative therapies and
AMR monitoring systems.
