Discovery of sciences: URMAPha open days
URMAPha organized an open day for the high school students of the Complex
School The Falcon. This unique event allowed young people to dive into
the captivating world of science and innovation through a variety of activities
interactive.
Highlights included:
A session dedicated to bacteriophages, where students discovered these viruses
fascinating and their applications in medicine.
Interactive presentations and demonstrations in microbiology, biology
molecular and herbal medicine.
A video in the multimedia room presenting the mission and vision of
URMAPha.
This initiative aroused participants’ interest in scientific careers,
while emphasizing the importance of research to resolve the challenges of
society.

Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study Seminar
Dr. Agbankpé participated as a speaker at the event organized by the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) on antimicrobial resistance in Africa. During this conference, he shared his expertise on the potential of
bacteriophages as an alternative to antibiotics, helping to enrich discussions on innovative solutions to this global challenge.

Benin National Veterinary Days
During the panel on Biosecurity and Antimicrobial Resistance, Dr. Soha presented on hygiene, biosecurity and antibiotic therapy in poultry farming, addressing the challenges of Benin's poultry industry, national regulations and proposing strategies for responsible use of antimicrobials and sustainable poultry farming.

Working visit
As part of the Mimin project, funded by the Erasmus Plus program,
URMAPha welcomed Dr. Kaisa Haukka, microbiologist and researcher
the University of Helsinki. During his visit, important steps were taken,
including planning internships for the hygiene training program
maternal and neonatal care, assessing progress and defining
new scientific strategies to strengthen infection prevention.

The URMAPha team succeeded in developing essential documents as part of a consultation commissioned by FAO-ECTAD Benin. a surveillance guide and updated SOPs, to improve the capacities of veterinary laboratories in Benin under the Global Health Security project, under the Global Health Security (GHS) project.
