Collaboration strengthening visit
Dr. Victorien Dougnon, participated in Cadiz, as Head of the Department of
International Cooperation of the University of Abomey-Calavi, in the “Navigating
LiderAfrica: Calls, Procedures and Tools. During this event, he presented our
institution and convinced the Consortium to create mobility opportunities and
learning for Beninese students (Master, PhD), post-docs and
administrative staff
EARTHS Summer School (Education and Research Oriented Training in Health Sciences)
Mr Rémi Akotegnon, participated in the EARTHS summer school organized by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Bernhard-Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine. This prestigious four-week program aimed to strengthen the skills of students and young researchers in research methods, scientific communication, and research project development.
Training Mobility at the Democritus University of Thrace
r. Boris Brice Legba carried out a staff mobility at the Democritus University of Thrace, in Greece, as part of the Erasmus+ program. This visit aimed to explore the research activities of the Department of Molecular Biology and
Genetics, to identify new opportunities for collaboration and to share enriching experiences. This mission actively supports the initiatives of the Center for Bioinformatics and Applied Genomics (CEBIOGE).
Capacity building training on Antimicrobial susceptibility testing for URMAPha
Fifteen members of URMAPha participated in intensive training at home on sensitivity tests to
antimicrobials according to the EUCAST methodology. This training was organized by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Kenya represented by the expert Linnet
Atieno with the support of the International Center for Antimicrobial Resistance
Solutions (ICARS).
International Days on Antibiotic Resistance
Several members of the team participated in these days where they had the opportunity to present their research results related to the fight against antimicrobial resistance in Benin.
AREF-MRC Towards Leadership Program
Dr Brice Boris LEGBA, from URMAPha (Research Unit in
Applied Microbiology and Pharmacology
of Natural Substances) at the University of Abomey-Calavi, has the honor of being one
of the 20 African researchers selected for the prestigious
AREF-MRC Towards Leadership program. The program has
officially started on November 20, 2024, at Palm Beach
Resort & Spa in Saly Portudal, Senegal.
1st edition of the Francophonie Summer University
Miss Afoussatou Amadou took part in the first edition of the Francophonie Summer University, held in Rabat, Morocco, on the theme “I publish my article”. This event, bringing together 24 French-speaking researchers, focused on the promotion of the French language in scientific research while offering practical workshops on the submission and publication of articles, scientific dissemination and research governance.
5th Edition of the course on antimicrobial resistance
Miss Fabiyi Kafayath, URMAPha laboratory technician,
proudly represents Benin at the 5th course on Resistance to
Antimicrobials – A One Health Challenge. This event, organized
by the Mérieux Foundation and Paris Cité University, aims to strengthen the
skills in diagnostics, innovative therapies and
AMR monitoring systems.
