QUALITY LABORATORY TESTING-TRAINING PROJECT IN BENIN (PROJECT LSV)

The project aims to strengthen capacities for "Laboratory quality testing - training project
in Benin 2021-2022" in order to contribute to the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and improve
the management of sepsis.

1. Context

Afin de contribuer à la lutte contre la résistance aux antimicrobiens (AMR) et d'améliorer
la prise en charge de la septicémie, PSR-Finlande, l'Organisation Non Gouvernementale
"Centre de Réflexions et d'Actions pour le Développement Intégré et la Solidarité
(CeRADIS-ONG) et l'Université d'Abomey-Calavi à travers l'Unité de Recherche en
Microbiologie Appliquée et Pharmacologie des Substances Natureles (URMAPha), ont
initié un projet de renforcement des capacités "Test de qualité en laboratoire - projet de
formation au Bénin 2021-2022".

2. Objectives

General Objective

This project aims to strengthen medical testing laboratories in Benin, focusing
on antimicrobial resistance testing and the detection of resistant bacteria
.

Specific Objectives

  • - Collect data on the use of laboratory results in the prescription and use of antimicrobials in health facilities in Benin - Strengthen the capacity of laboratory biologists - Develop a guide for prescribing antimicrobials.

3. Résultats Essentiels

  • - Documentation of laboratory testing practices, prescription, and use of antimicrobials - Strengthening the capacity of laboratory biologists in blood culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and quality assurance in microbiology laboratories - Production of a guide to the prescription and use of antimicrobials through a co-construction workshop between biologists, physicians, and pharmacists

4. Livrables

  • - Capacity building for laboratory biologists on the detection of AMR and production of a guide to the use of antimicrobials in hospitals - A scientific publication in an impact factor journal
