Presentation

Le Certificat Universitaire en Hygiène dans les Soins Maternels et Néonataux vise à répondre aux défis liés aux infections maternelles et néonatales, qui figurent parmi les principales causes de décès au Bénin et dans le monde. Soutenu par des projets tels que MIMIN et financé par l'Union Européenne et le Ministère des Affaires Étrangères de la Finlande, ce programme ambitionne de renforcer les compétences pratiques des professionnels de santé en matière d'hygiène hospitalière.

En se concentrant sur la prévention des infections et l'amélioration des pratiques d'hygiène, cette formation entend combler les lacunes des systèmes de soins actuels, notamment la résistance aux antimicrobiens et la non-conformité aux règles d'hygiène. Elle a ciblé pour la première cohorte, 100 boursiers, sélectionnés pour recevoir une formation de pointe qui contribuera à réduire les infections liées à la mère et à l'enfant et à améliorer significativement la qualité des soins.

Objectives

The objective of this certification is to strengthen the capacities of healthcare professionals in Benin in hygiene for the prevention of maternal and neonatal infections. Specifically, this course will enable participants to:

Assess and improve hygiene practices

Continuously assess and improve hygiene practices during maternal and neonatal care.

Apply standardized hygiene practices

Apply standardized and adapted hygiene practices, implementing hygiene protocols that comply with international standards and are adapted to the local context to prevent infections.

Recognize and diagnose early

Recognize and diagnose maternal and neonatal infections early: identify signs and symptoms in pregnant women and newborns and provide prompt and appropriate care.

Targets

This training is intended for healthcare professionals involved in maternal and neonatal care, as well as hospital hygiene managers.

  • Healthcare professionals (midwives, nurses, gynecologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals involved in maternal and neonatal care).
  • Hospital bio-hygienists and laboratory technicians (specialists responsible for managing and implementing hospital hygiene practices to prevent infections).

Progress

Participants are grouped into two cohorts between the University of Abomey-Calavi and the University of Parakou. The training includes continuous assessment through exercises and active participation. Practical internships are organized in participants’ healthcare centers under the supervision of dedicated tutors.
